Every load we haul goes to a permitted transfer station, recycling facility or landfill, and the choice depends on what is in it. Clean concrete is crushed for base rock. Scrap metal is sold to processors. Untreated wood is chipped for biomass or mulch. Green waste goes to composting.
Contamination is what breaks this chain. A few cans of paint or a single mattress in a green waste load can send the entire container to landfill. Keeping loads clean when a material stream is separated is the single highest-leverage thing a customer can do.
